This week on my radio show Join The Dots I talked tape loops, rural gay beats and Bear Pride with Chapter Music’s latest signing, the rude, crude and delightful Alex Vivian (aka Always), Drew Daniel (Matmos) gave it a huge plug (nudge nudge) on Pitchfork, plus Vivian’s about to go and play some shows organised by Upset The Rhythm englandside soon. He’s playing tonight at Lanfranchies (Surry Hills, Sydney) too.
Otherwise, last night’s show started with Scottish pop and electronic beats (Highpoint Lowlife through to Camera Obscura), ’80s post punk (Birthday Party to Essendon Airport) and Melbourne indie pop. Well I had to find some way of working in the new record by Sodastream – even if they did quote me on the front of the CD saying something like “Sodastream make me fall in love with music all over again” without actually saying my name. Say my name!
Anyway, here’s the songs.
