What's been going on?
Sunday, July 2nd, 2006I looked back thinking there would be lots of thoughts. But busy times, new job, radio show, freelancing – there hasn’t even been time for DJING.
I have been playing TENNIS, I haven’t been doing interviews for this blog, I have been doing lots of interviews for my radio show.
I’m listening to the three CDs that have been given away with Mess & Noise magazine. If you have not seen the magazine yet, keep an eye out. It’s great, distinctive, individual, plus the free CDs have loads of good new Australian bands.
The other magazine I have been reading a lot lately – I subscribed last month after buying previously from the newstand – is The Monthly. Long essays, written well, but in a personal style. Generally modelled on the New Yorker, though far less stuffy, it’s a good read. Plus, until the last issue, Robert Forster was the resident music writer, covering albums from Beth Orton to Augie March. Even when I didn’t like the albums I wanted to based on his articulate style. I’m hoping his break on the last issue was because of the tragic death of his Go Betweens bandmate Grant McLennan.
