I think Emmy's review gets a bit hung up on the Thatcher/rest of the band bit; Corbijn picked an angle - Curtis's personal story - and dug in. And it makes for a much more accessible story for having done that. New Order were very involved in the making of the film, so they can't be too upset with their rendering, and it's undoubtedly cemented Joy Division's position in the Official Canon of Important Artists. It makes decaying 70s urban life look so incredibly... stylish. Curtis/Riley dominate the film.
